6  Luke

Shortly, the other party’s representative arrived.
The representative was a Frenchman, but his assistant and the other two bosses were not. Isabella found that the tall man was a little familiar, but she wasn't sure if they had seen each other before.
The man had already recognized her and called with a smile, "Isabella."
Seeing his warm and smiling eyes, Isabella finally remembered.
Luke, who was previously her father's student, also once worked in the court. They could be considered as fellow apprentice, but Luke had moved to Switzerland due to his family's business and had never came back since then.
"Luke." Isabella also smiled at him.
As it was a business negotiation, they weren't allowed to reminisce about old times, so they could only have a chat in private.
Isabella sat by Mr. Stock, listening to the other representative attentively and translating it to the Mr. Stock. After Mr. Stock replied, She then interpretered the answers to the French representative, over and over again.
This was a listening challenge, and as languages were different, it may cause some differences when interpreting. Isabella tried her best to Interprete concisely as possible so that both sides could understand each other.
Midway through the negotiation, everyone would toast when they spirits rose. Isabella had drunk for Mr. Stock's all time while having a cold drink in her period, and her face turned pale.
Luke glanced at Isabella and whispered a few words to the representative, then they seldom toasted but just ate. This made her much more comfortable and had time to take a break.
Within an hour and a half, the negotiation ended up successfully and the two sides signed the contract.
Seeing there was nothing more that she could do, Isabella told Mr. Stock that she needed to go to the bathroom. She wanted to have a cigarette, but found that her bad was left at the room, so she just washed her hands and left.
When arriving at the corridor, she coincidentally met with Luke.
Isabella proactively greeted him , "Luke, thank you for that." If Luke had not helped her, she might have drunk to vomit in the toilet.
"No worries." Luke smiled. Seeing her wet hands, he took out a handkerchief to her, "It's easy to catch a cold if your hand was wet."
Isabella took the handkerchief and wiped her hands straightforward. She joked: "In the past, I often saw you carrying a handkerchief with you. I didn't expect that you still have the habit."
"I'm used to it. It’s healthy and clean." Luke followed her to the private room shoulder to shoulder, "I heard about teacher's matters when I came back, but I was unable to contact you without your phone number."
"He deserves it." She said without any expression, "Luke, you don’t need to sympathize with him, he didn’t treasure this job, and he is too greedy."
Sighing lightly, he gave her a business card: "I heard that teacher hasn't been sentenced yet, so if you need any help, please let me know. After all, he has been my teacher for many years."
Isabella hesitated but accepted his card.
She had even thought of borrowing money from him before they met each other, but two million wasn't a small amount, and it was difficult and shameful to speak to her father’s student.
"Yes, I will tell you if I need help." Isabella dismissed the idea of borrowing money and changed the subject. "I heard that you got married soon after you went to Switzerland, is everyting okay?
"Not so well." A wry smile appeared on his cold face: "My wife was too greedy, and I couldn't satisfy her. There are at most three men came for her in one day, at last I can't take it anymore and proposed a divorce."
"..."
Isabella was stunned and did not expect he was living such a life, "Didn't you have a child?
"I’m afraid that she could be a bad influence on my daughter, so I gave her half of the property and got the custody of my daughter. I brought my daughter back this time and plan to live here at home for a longer time."
Seeing that Isabella was frowning, he was a little embarrassed, and laughed: "Isabella, don’t feel embarrassed by asking that, as this is just  a small matter. If a couple could not fit, they would naturally be divorced."
Isabella laughed but did not say anything.
